THANK YOU
To O.T.C. Employees

On behalf of the Joe Westover Family, we would like to thank you all for your kind and generous gifts and donations.

As of the meeting at U.A.W. 578 Hall on December 8, 2007, we received from you close to $5,000 dollars in cash donations and several truck loads of items for the family to restart their new home and lives.

I am extremely proud of how you all came together for this cause, because it shows how collective efforts can help one of our people in trying times.

A lesson learned I would hope is that this kind of support should be shown daily by all because someday you may be the one in need of support from your fellow Co-Workers.

There are numbers in the Interplant phone book for
Perry G. Graves. The numbers are 25124 and 920-258-0062.

Regarding 25124, I directed Human Resources 7 years ago to remove that number because I have never used it and because the Company can retrieve messages from that number.

Regarding 920-258-0062, this was a pager, which I turned back into the Company 2 years ago.

I have recently explained these facts to some members who have called these numbers.

Please refer all calls to 920-231-5153, which is a safe number at the Union Hall. Our secretary hence forwards all messages to me. You may also email me through this website.

Thank you,

Perry G. Graves
Want to be involved with your Union but don't know where to start? Well do we have the opportunity for you!!!

The Union is looking to restart the newsletter.
We need many volunteers as this is a big job.
There are various tasks that we need help with.

We understand that people have many responsibilities with work and private lives-and our two meetings per month are not enough to get the word out to everyone.

Please contact Andy Schaller
1st shift South Plant-Hunter area
or
Call the Union Hall 231-5153 for further information.
Thank you for your time and consideration in
helping us get this off the ground.

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS OF UAW LOCAL 578

The Union has been advised by representatives of Oshkosh Truck that the Company is considering not scheduling certain operations due to a variety of business concerns. The extent of what could occur is not fully known.

The Company has stated several options that it may pursue. Some examples, presented by the Company, were soliciting the plant for volunteers to take time off, laying off employees from certain operations for a full week, or weeks, or on several days. As of today, and based upon continuing to obtain business, permanent layoffs are not a part of their current plan.

While the Union wishes it had veto power over such decisions it does not. It also wishes this would have been communicated in a more timely fashion.

Your Union will continue to do its best to ensure that any action taken by the Company is consistent with the terms and conditions of the Labor Agreement.

The Union is very frustrated by the fact that some management representatives made announcements of their intentions, to employees, before informing the Bargaining Committee on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 17, 2009. On the morning of Wednesday, March 18, 2009, the Company did update the Union before making plant announcements. It is however, Management's responsibility to make formal announcements, of their decisions, to employees.

The Union has expressed its concerns about the high costs associated with the outsourcing of work and has requested work be brought back.

As more information becomes available your Union will do its best to keep you timely informed. Please also visit your Unions website uaw578.org to stay current.

This communication is strictly for membership information only. Nothing herein may be reproduced, published or copied without written permission of the President of United Auto Workers Local 578.

Attn: U.A.W. Local 578 MEMBERSHIP

The Bargaining Committee would like to clarify a couple of key
points regarding the Temporary Layoffs of 3/19/09 and 3/20/09.
1) The Bargaining Committee was not officially informed of
the Companies intent until 3/18/09 regarding
   who/what/where would be affected.
a) Approximately 3 hours before the people were informed;
the Union immediately put a posting up regarding what
we were told at that time. The rumors were spreading
before the Bargaining Committee was officially informed.
2) Some management employee’s misinformed our members
that the Union agreed with this action.
a) Absolutely/Unequivocally FALSE.
3) Can people who were laid off file for unemployment?
a) Yes. The website is: http://unemployment.wisconsin.gov
    the toll-free phone number is (800) 822-5246.
4) Thank-You all for your letters, emails and verbal support of
the Bargaining Committee regarding this issue. As you may
or may not know, we are addressing this issue as rapidly as
we can both contractually and legally possible. Also, as you
may or may not know we do this after work on OUR OWN
time. As previously stated, visit this website

For those who have questions
about the contract on this issue
